Class II-III Fox River, WI

Kaukauna 1000 Islands (Highway 55 Main Street to CTH ZZ)

Bedrock riverbed creates sweet waves for surfs and spins. The first two parts of this run are heavily 'citified' (cement and stonework banks, highway and railway crossings, buildings and industry surrounding), while the lower third part is braided channels between wooded islands within a nature preserve, having an amazingly 'wilderness' feel to it. This section of river is dependent on flow being released from an upstream Army Corps of Engineers Dam which also contols flows for the adjacent Badger hydropower project.

Scheduled flow releases provide boatable flows a few times a year. The hydropower license also led to improved put-in and takeout, signage, etc. Purchased key for access required.
