Class I-II Perkiomen Creek, PA

Perkiomen Creek Water Trail - Upper (Deep Creek to Meadow Park)

The Upper Perkiomen Creek is characterized by sinuous curves and rocky gorges. This remote part of the water trail begins just south of Green Lane Park and ends at Meadow Park in Schwenksville. Be prepared to maneuver your craft with skill, as you'll most likely be on the search for deeper water through the many rifts and ripples of the creek. You'll be rewarded for your effort though, as this section is a seldom-paddled portion of the creek and so offers an abundance of serenity and solitude.

Along the way, you'll pass by two of the Perkiomen’s main tributaries: the Unami Creek at mile 17.5 and the Swamp Creek at mile 12.5. As you approach Schwenksville, you'll have to portage around the Spring Mount Dam in Foy Park at mile 13.5. Below the dam, you'll pass by the ski slopes of Spring Mount (river left) and the only approved camping area on the water trail at Cabin Craft (river right), both at mile 13. Schwenksville Borough recently installed a beautiful boat ramp and landing on river right in Meadow Park at mile 11.7. This landing is a great place to conclude your paddle of the Upper Perkiomen, begin your tour of the Lower Perkiomen or stop for some eats and treats in town before continuing downstream.
