Class I Muskingum River, OH

Muskingum River Water Trail (Dresden to Marietta)

The Muskingum River has historically served as a transportation corridor to and from the Ohio River, and its abundant resources have sustained communities throughout history. The hand-operated locks of the Muskingum River Parkway (managed by ODNR State Parks) have not inhibited its natural qualities; the river is home to abundant fish, birds, and wildlife. Cities along the river provide ample amenities for through-boaters and day-trippers alike. The area is rich in history and natural appeal, making it an ideal water trail destination for all types of motorized and hand-powered boats. (Ohio DNR)
