Class I Chippewa River, MN

Chippewa River State Water Trail

The Dakota called this river Maya-waka-wapan, or "remarkable river with steep places." Heavily wooded banks meander through farmland, and numerous bluffs - some 150 to 200 feet high - add to the beauty of the river.

Considered to be family friendly, it is primarily a flat water river with some riffles and Class I rapids.
