Class I Cannon River, MN

Cannon River State Water Trail

Bounded by rolling hills, high bluffs, farmland and woods in its upper reaches, this river enters a broad gorge below Cannon Falls. There are a variety of wildlife and sightseeing opportunities. There are few rapids; none are difficult (Class I).

 

The Cannon River was added to Minnesota's Wild and Scenic Rivers Program in 1980. The designated stretch extends from Faribault to its confluence with the Mississippi River. (MDNR)
