Class I-II Berry Lake, AK

Swanson River Canoe Route (Berry Lake to Berry Lake)

The Swan Lake and Swanson River canoe systems cover over 100 miles in the northern lowlands of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. From easy family weekend trips to weeklong adventures, paddlers of all abilities and ages will enjoy this unique wilderness experience.

With longer portages, extra time and physical effort are required for exploring this system. Generally, these challenges mean fewer people visit here creating better wildlife viewing, excellent rainbow trout fishing, and a more compelling wilderness experience. This route covers 80 miles including 40 lakes and 46 miles of the Swanson River. (U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service)
